About the role:

We are on a mission to make healthcare data accessible. The more accessible the data, the smarter the decisions can be made on it. This role will be working to build software services to integrate with Episource internal and external partner systems to provide a holistic view of data across many different sources.

The new products are still in very early stages, so come seize this rare opportunity and apply your expertise in a brand new arena. This is the opportunity to:

  • Lead a small team of collaborative and brilliant engineers
  • Architect and implement robust and reliable microservices on a modern stack
  • Contribute to our workflow tools that are essential for our business process management
  • Integrate with other systems and services across the Episource organization
  • Write high-quality code that is readable, testable, and extensible
  • Research and pioneer the adoption of new technologies for our team.

What you’ll do:

  • Build flexible but resilient data pipelines and connections to a variety of healthcare sources
  • You’ll build small, robust backend API services in Go and Node.js that must be performant under load, scalable, and deliver large sets of data
  • You’ll frequently work with other Product Engineering and Platform Service teams to incorporate their components, services and tools into your product; as well as, share components, services, and best practices in return
  • Every day offers a variety of work, an opportunity to contribute new ideas, and the ability to share your knowledge within and outside of the Episource organization

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and building high volume, scalable applications from end-to-end. Strong proficiency in Node.js, Go, or both; or professional experience in one of the following backend languages: Java, Ruby, Python
  • Working experience with healthcare datasets and standards. HL7, FHIR, CCD/CCDA, EDI X12, NCDA
  • Solid understanding of languages such as Javascript
  • Multiple years of experience debugging complex issues at every level of the stack; you can debug an application problem all the way from source, through the transport, through the application and servers and databases and asynchronous queues. Logs and core dumps don’t frighten you
  • Use of continuous integration and delivery technologies at an expert level; you have the ability and interest to teach others best practices
  • Curiosity to iterate and improve on solutions; you view unknowns as challenges and enjoy them
  • Motivation to understand the business, our users, their requirements, and to deliver results
  • Passion for continued learning and a track record of picking up new technologies and skills as you ship awesome code
  • Experience mentoring and leading less experienced engineers

Things you’ll love:

  • Excellent compensation, and all sorts of benefits you’d expect (and many you almost certainly don’t!)
  • An influential position on a quickly-moving team at a rapidly-growing company
  • Opportunities to work with brilliant people who also like to have fun
  • Excellent career growth opportunities
  • An awesome remote-first culture team.
  • If you think you’ve got what it takes to succeed in this position, we’d love to talk to you.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
