RAPS to EDPS Transition: Keys to Success

CMS has officially started the transition from RAPS to EDPS

The transition from RAPS (Risk Adjustment Processing System) submission process to the new EDPS (Encounter Data Processing System) submission process for payment and risk adjustment purposes has already begun.

For the 2016 payment year (2015 DOS), risk scores and payment will be based on a blend of 90% RAPS and 10% EDPS. In the 2017 Final Announcement, CMS continued the transition announcing that the 2017 payment year (2016 DOS) will be a blend of 75% RAPS and 25% EDPS.

With this transition fully underway, there are certain areas that plans, groups, and providers need to be focusing on immediately.
